AB&T works to discover and inventory all of the wireless mobile devices within an enterprise and then provide reports that reveal areas where savings can be obtained. Some of the ways those savings can be realized are eliminating unused or underutilized services and devices, or by reducing the rate plan cost associated with the mobile devices. Negotiation of carrier rate plans is another area of savings potential, as is identification of over-billing and obtaining credits against that over-billing for the client.
It is essential that the customer approach an audit and/or optimization process with an open mind because every engagement is basically a custom consulting endeavor. AB&T finds that large clients rarely have more than a vague idea of their mobile device inventory in use, or the rate plans associated with them. Obtaining billing records is a first step in the audit process. The customer can provide AB&T or its partner with an LOA (Letter of Authorization) for AB&T to access their wireless billing records, or the customer can provide reports or CDR's with billing data. An AB&T support specialist can explain more details about the billing data acquisition process.
One of the big challenges in today's mobile enterprise is that their users often assume the liability for the mobile device themselves and therefore the enterprise has little control or visibility into what those devices are, and what they are being used for. Corporate data is particularly vulnerable in the mobile enterprise. AB&T provides several white papers and collaterals to better explain the pitfalls and potential solutions relating to the mobile enterprise as it relates to audits, optimization, visibility, management and security of their mobile users.
A Closely associated process and often a follow-on to Audit and Optimization is Wireless Expense Management (WEM).
WEM utilizes sophisticated Software as Service (SaaS) automated tools that provide dramatically enhanced visibility and control of enterprise mobility assets. See the WEM section of the AB&T portal to learn about this vital service.
